Upcoming Special Events

Yom Teruah
Sunday, September 16th, 6:00 p.m.
Location: Old Becknerville School (see map this page)

We will gather for a pot luck meal followed by a service led by Mark Sadowski. Bring your shofars!!! You are encouraged to bring a covered dish, a dessert, drinks, or any other item you desire to bring. Cynthia McQuerry is coordinating the Yom Teruah dinner, so if you are not sure what to bring, please give her a call @ 595-7550.

Yom Kippur
Tuesday evening, September 25th
Location: Houtz property--call (859) 901-9002 for directions.

We will meet for a pot luck/pre-fast meal, followed by a fireside discussion (weather permitting) led by Frank Houtz on what we expect to gain and/or learn from the Kippur fast. Ken Rank will be coordinating the meal, so please call Ken @ (859) 737-3772 to see what to bring.

Sunday at sundown, September 30th
Location: Old Becknerville School (see map this page)
We have some special speakers coming in and Frank Houtz will be doing a week long seminar each morning, so pack up those tents and get ready because this promises to be one blessing of a week!

If you have never attended a Beit Minorah Sukkot and plan to do so this year, please let us know so that we can send you the guidelines. These are not meant to be a burden, rather, they are meant only to protect the integrity of the entire group.

We have a short time after Yom Kippur until the Sabbath begins Sunday evening (which includes the loss of one day for the weekly Sabbath) to get the Sukkah up and ready. We need help, strong able bodied men who can put in a few hours to create a Sukkah through which we will enjoy great fellowship and time alone with God!

IMPORTANT: Brother Mike Shirmer of Berea will be coming in Tuesday October 2nd to give a 1-2 hour workshop starting tentatively at 1:00PM on “Making a Shofar.” If you would like to purchase a Kudu horn “to make” shofar, please let us know immediately! Beit Minorah will order in advance the needed horns, which will be longer than 20” but shorter than 30”. The cost per horn will be about $20 per. This means when the workshop is finished, you will have a shofar worth about $100 for 1/5th the price. Again, we need to know in advance so PLEASE call Ken @ 737-3772 NO LATER THAN Monday September 10th. If you have a horn that can be used to make a shofar, you are welcome to bring it.
